Paper Artsy Quite Quirky
Hi all and welcome to another week of the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.
This week's challenge theme ~ Quite Quirky!
We are featuring products from Paper Artsy. You don't have to use them to join in but if you have some we would to see what you make. As always just for entering you will be eligible for the drawing of a $25 voucher to the Simon store!
This week I am going out of my comfort zone and using a new medium. I am going to create two stenciled backgrounds using Paper Artsy Watermelon Chalk Acrylic paint and a sponge dauber. I just love the results!
I made two cards two different ways. I started with an A2 white card base made from smooth white cardstock for both.
Chalk paint was a new medium for me so I did a little research on how to use it. I chose to stencil both cards using the chalk paint using a make up sponge. I found using a low tack adhesive spray helped keep the dainty stencil in place and prevented bleeding.
Using a make up sponge was perfect for controlling the amount paint when applied to the stencil. I did not use any special paper. I used used a thicker white cardstock. The chalk paint dries very quickly when you add a thin layer.
The first card was stenciled using a light dabbing touch to create a gradient look. After it was dry I added a sentiment die and a few enamel dots.
This second card I used more pressure to combine the two colors with a richer, darker look. When that was dry I lined up the stencil back over the painted top and added a clear texture glaze. The glaze gave it a glass like texture which was very beautiful. I then added blue ink with a blending brush and a sentiment die and more enamel dots to finish it all up.
I hope you enjoyed the project I made and got some inspiration to go outside your comfort zone and try some new things! I have provided affiliate links to all the supplies used at no additional costs to you. Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!
