Creating 3d Butterflies!

Today I want to share a couple of projects featuring a fun 3d element. As a card maker I might shy away from adding pop up or 3d elements on my projects because it's hard to mail. Today's 3d element will lay flat while in an envelope and not create too much bulk to mail.
To make the pop up butterfly: I used the Simon Says Stamp Billow Butterfly die set. I cut the outline and the body of the butterfly from white cardstock and a the inside of the wings from vellum paper. I rant the vellum piece though a swiss dots embossing folder to add a cute pattern to the wings. I then dipped the body of the butterfly in sticky ink to heat emboss using gold embossing powder. I assembled all the pieces of the butterfly and glued them together. I added a piece of 3d foam just on the backside of the body so the wings can pop up and also lay flat.
This card was made with an A2 size card base made from white cardstock. I then trimmed down another panel of white cardstock and ran it through a swiss dots embossing folder and adhered to the card base. I used the BoHo Rainbow stencil set to create a colorful focal point on a seperate piece of cardstock. I fussy cut it out and added it to the card.
I stamped the sentiment in sticky clear ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder and used the coordinating die to cut it out and adhered it under the rainbow. I then took the 3d butterfly an added it on top of the rainbow.
This next card came to together super quick. On watercolor paper I did some "ink smooshing" with distress ink and flicked some gold paint over it. I then arranged the 3d butterflies around the sentiment that I stamped in sticky clear ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder and used the coordinating die to cut it out.
I hope you enjoyed the projects I created and got some inspiration to create your own 3d elements to make your projects extra special without the extra bulk. Please leave me a comment if you have any questions. I would love to hear from you. I have provided affiliate links at no additional costs to you listing all the supplies I used. Thank you for stopping by and happy crafting!
