Simon Says Stamp Favorite Things Release day

Image
It's release day! I am so happy to be sharing a project using some goodies from the new Simon Says Stamp Favorite Things release . I am featuring some goodies from this release and the smallest shaker element I have ever made😜 I began with an A2 size card base made from smooth white cardstock. I then ran another piece of white cardstock through the new Radial Dots 3d embossing folder to create a fun colorful background with lots of texture. Using distress oxide and blending brushes I applied ink to the center of the embossed panel and worked my way out. Even though I used 3 colors when they overlapped it would create another color. I have listed the colors I used below. To create the small shaker I die cut the hello and shadow from the Stromanthe die set . I cut the hello once from white cardstock and once from craft foam. I then used the shadow to cut the acetate and the shaker backer from white cardstock. I adhered all the pieces together with liquid glue. Before adding the sha...

I then trimmed down another piece of white cardstock to create a panel that I ran through the Basket Weave embossing folder . I adhered this panel to the card base with tape runner. With a paper trimmer I cut four squares of heavy white cardstock to prepare for ink blending and "ink smooshing". This is a technique where you ...

Making Your Own Plaid Pattern Paper

Image
Have you ever wanted to create your own plaid pattern paper? It's very easy and the color combinations are only limited to your imagination. I have a quick reel over on my Instagram page that shows how I created this pattern. I made this card with an A2 size card base cut from smooth white cardstock. I then used a wonky stitched die to cut out a panel with the plaid image to fit on the card base with a bit of a white border. To make the plaid background: Used a rectangle die to cut out the center of an A2 size panel of vellum paper to create my mask. I then added removable tape to the back of my mask and applied it to a piece of white cardstock. I then taped off the areas I wanted to ink blend with post it tape. This is a removable adhesive backed strips of paper. You can re-use the strips and ink blend in any color or size. I have found that the more random pattern turns out best. For some sparkle I used a permanent tape runner and glitter to the pattern for a bit of sparkle. I t...

Creating 3d Butterflies!

Image
Today I want to share a couple of projects featuring a fun 3d element. As a card maker I might shy away from adding pop up or 3d elements on my projects because it's hard to mail. Today's 3d element will lay flat while in an envelope and not create too much bulk to mail. To make the pop up butterfly: I used the Simon Says Stamp Billow Butterfly die set . I cut the outline and the body of the butterfly from white cardstock and a the inside of the wings from vellum paper. I rant the vellum piece though a swiss dots embossing folder to add a cute pattern to the wings. I then dipped the body of the butterfly in sticky ink to heat emboss using gold embossing powder. I assembled all the pieces of the butterfly and glued them together. I added a piece of 3d foam just on the backside of the body so the wings can pop up and also lay flat. This card was made with an A2 size card base made from white cardstock. I then trimmed down another panel of white cardstock and ran it through a swi...

This week I have chosen to feature the "cute" Newton's Nook Coffee Delights stamp set to make for the challenge. I am not a coffee drinker myself but these little mugs were just too cute not to get! I began with an A2 size card base made from smooth white cardstock. I then trimmed down a panel of yellow cardstock to leave a bit of a white border and adhered it to the card base. I created a "scrapbook" layout look for this card by trimming down white cardstock into squares and a rectangle to fit inside of the yellow panel. I distressed each piece to the layout with an ink blending tool...

Simon Says Stamp March Card Kit -Birthday Gifts

Image
I am happy to share a project that I made using the new Simon Says Stamp March Card Kit . I am featuring one of the bow dies from the Pretty Bows die set included in the kit. It's a fun card kit that can be used to make lots of different projects for the upcoming seasons. I began with an A2 size card base made from smooth white cardstock. I then trimmed 6 small rectangles from scraps of colored cardstock. I used a ruler to determine the size of rectangles that would fit the card base leaving a bit of a white border. I then used a polka dot and stripe stencil to add a pattern to the rectangles. I matched the ink for the patterns to each bow die I cut out to create the presents. Using a paper trimmer I cut strips for each present to look like ribbon for the bows. I the stamped the sentiments in clear ink and heat set them using gold embossing powder on white paper. I used a coordinating die for the birthday sentiment stamp that was included in the kit. Dies are available separately. ...
