Christmas Plaid with Mistletoe card

Image
Hello crafty friends! I am sharing a fun DIY Christmas plaid background project with you. If you are new here to my blog then I have to warn you that I am obsessed with creating my own plaid backgrounds. There are a lot of stencil, stamps and dies to help create a beautiful plaid background, but for me, a simple strip of post it tape is my favorite way to customize and achieve this fun look. First, I created an A2 size card base made from smooth white cardstock. I then trimmed down a panel of craft cardstock to create the plaid background. Using strips of post it tape I mask off diagonal strips. Using a blending tool and distress ink, I color in each strip. Pro-tip : to create the glitter on the strips add double sided tape runner over the desired strip then sprinkle clear glitter over the top. Shake off the excess and use a scrap piece of paper over the top and use a brayer or press down to push in the glitter to the adhesive to stay put! I then die cut the mistletoe, bow and berries ...

I am happy to share a project using the Memory Box Falling Snowflake stencil  to create a colorful and sparkly splash of snowflakes. I am also sharing a technique that might be over looked with stencils. I began by stenciling the snowflakes from the stencil onto white cardstock by masking off the snowflakes I wanted to use. I call this image isolating. I did this by using cheap copy paper and cutting out a mask with scissors to fit the desired snowflake size.  I used distress inks and a blender brush to add a rainbow of color to the stenciled snowflakes in a diagonal pattern. Then on a se...

Trio of Star tag set

Image
I'm happy to be sharing a project using the fun Whirl Stars die set from the new Simon Says Stamp Festive Fun release. I then used a dot embossing folder to add texture to them as well. I then die cut the stars from red and green cardstock. Again, I applied distress ink to the edges of the stars for some added interest. I used a white gel pen to add dot detail to the red star. I added the stars to the tags using foam adhesive squares. I used a small circle die to cut out a reinforced tag topper and then used a hole puncher to create an opening on the topper for the ribbon to go through. I die cut the sentiment for each tag out of gold cardstock and also from fun foam for thickness and dimension and glued them to the bottom of each tag. To create the snow drifts I used scissors to cut out of scrap paper and placed it over the rectangle mask. I used distress ink and a blender brush. I die cut the parts of Frosty and colored him in with copic markers and a white detail pen. Using 3d foam squares to add him to the inked panel. I stamped the sentiment in red ink and used the coordinating die to cut to out and again used more 3d foam squares to pop it up. I hope you enjoyed the project I made and got some inspiration!
