I then used a plaid stencil to create a soft background with distress ink. I inked the edges of the tag too.  I used the new Divine Peony die cut from white cardstock. Hi all and welcome to another week of the  Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge . This week's challenge theme is Emboss It! We are featuring products from Wow . You don't have to use them to join in but if you have some we would to see what you make. As always just for entering you will be eligible for the drawing of a  $25 voucher to the Simon store! This week I am sharing a go to technique called emboss resist using WOW's clear embossing powder . I think this was one of the very first techniques I learned how to do over 25 years ago. Yikes!! It still yields great results almost every time. I'm also using an amazing background stamp that will give me some much needed color therapy! I began with a piece of watercolor paper that I stamped using a floral background stamp in black pigment ink. First I applied an anti-static brush over the surface of the watercolor paper and stamped the background image 3 times for a nice crisp dark image. Using WOW clear embossing powder I

Tim Holtz Distress Spritz card

It's a fun day when you get to play with new goodies from Tim Holtz! The man is a genius! He has released a set of shimmery spritz sprays for his distress line .  They could not be prettier! I love to add shimmer and shine to my projects and these are just perfect for that! I have created a birthday day card to showcase some of the gorgeous colors from the new Tim Holtz Distress Spritz collection. I used a piece of black watercolor paper to create a fun and festive background panel with the new distress spritz sprays. I chose a few of my favorite colors and sprayed and splattered the colors randomly on the panel.  I then trimmed it down and added it to a card base made from smooth white cardstock. I then die cut the birthday sentiment from more white cardstock 3 times and layered them for thickness. I die cut mini balloons from colored cardstock and sprayed them with the coordinating spritz color. I adhered them with foam squares and added some silver twine. The sub-sentiments wher

You're My Hero Dad card

Image
This post is to pay tribute to my late father-in-law. He was born in Hawaii and would always wear Hawaiian shirts. I made a card today that reminded me of a pattern of one of his favorite shirts. We sure miss him! Aloha Tutuman! I used a fun technique for this background. Using a cling background stamp I added white pigment ink to the stamp on to watercolor paper. I then shook white embossing powder to the inked areas and then heat set it. The white embossed area will resist the ink. I painted the leaves in shades of green and turquoise. When the leaves were dry I painted in between the leaves with a blue distress ink mixed with water. When that panel was dry I trimmed it down to fit an A2 size card base. I then die cut the letters dad out of white cardstock and fun foam using alphabet dies from my stash. On dark green cardstock I stamped the sub-sentiment with more white pigment ink and heat set that with white embossing powder. I added a few light green sequins to finish this project

I trimmed it to leave a bit of a border. I then cut strips of colored cardstock from my stash and adhered them to the card base to show through the circle window of the embossed panel.
