Honey Bee Things with Wings
Hi all and welcome to another week of the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.
This week's challenge theme is Things with Wings!
We are featuring products from Honey Bee. You don't have to use them to join in but if you have some we would to see what you make. As always just for entering you will be eligible for the drawing of a $25 voucher to the Simon store!
Sometimes even the most seasoned and experienced paper crafter can make an unfortunate mistake. I had a wonderful Honey Bee stencil that I wanted to use for this week's challenge. I was trying out a new technique using pigment ink with the stencil. Wanting to dry the ink a little before lifting off the stencil to avoid smudging, I used my heat tool. BIG mistake!! I misjudged how much heat this poor stencil could handle before it melted. I am sharing this story in hopes that someone will learn from my mistake.
I created this A2 size card base from smooth white cardstock. I wanted to create a distressed wood fence background. I trimmed down a panel of white cardstock and made scor lines every half inch using a scor board and scor tool.
To create the "distressed wood grain" look I took an ink pad and added the ink directly to the panel with the raised scored lines by swiping the ink pad a few times in a downward motion.
Next, I die cut the bird, branch and leaves out of white cardstock and colored them with copic markers and white gel pen. I added them to the card with 3d foam squares for dimension. Last, I stamped the sentiment with red ink and used the coordinating die to cut it out and added to the card with more foam squares and a few sequins.
I hope you enjoyed the project I have made for this week's challenge and got some inspiration!
